Steering Through a Shaky Housing Market

Steering Through a Shaky Housing Market

TAGS: real estate, buyer's market,

A turbulent real estate market has many buyers braced on the sidelines, waiting for the precise time to purchase a new home. While certain financial forecasts point to a potential weaker economy, there are ways for homebuyers to counter the shaky market.  As the future of the real estate market remains uncertain, there are a few strategies for identifying a property with a decent appreciation value.

Here are three suggestions to avoiding a risky to fatal real estate investment:

1) Gather the data and facts.  Using a Google map map and other metropolitan data, research the geographic features of the area you are interested in buying a new home:

Emp •  Employment development and opportunities
  Quality of public schools
•  Mass transit Accessibility
• Corporate Headquarters
 Types of businesses
• Residential turnover rate

The aforementioned list portrays the telltale signs of a region  headed for prosperity or plight.

2) Assess the property's value. - Comprehensive analysis is key to avoiding buyer's remorse or simply making a viable new home buy. Using records available from your local city, review the price of comparable properties of the same neighborhood you plan to buy your new home.

3) Be calculating. With the glut of single family homes, condominiums, and other housing properties, the competition to buy now is minimal. After all, it is a buyer's market and with an abundance of property options, time is not of the essence. Take your time
