TAGS: Netbook, net-book Laptop, Notebook,  MacBook Air, PowerBook 2go PC, Intel Classmate, Eee PC

The evolution of computing continues to take new shape. Netbooks are the cheaper or less expensive alternative to regular personal computers. First, there was the "Notebook." Then, there was the "MacBookAir." And now, we have the 'net book." From the exceptionally plain to the modish, netbooks vary in style, interface and price.

Unlike a PC, most netbooks do not have a hard drive. (The exception is 2Go PC). The no frills computing products are the ultimate computing solution for students, individuals who need to access the Internet (only), or simply consumers on a budget.

Starting as low as $299, the median price for a netbook is approximately $400. Netbooks differ from laptops, such as the Notebook, PowerBook and MacBook Air - in the following ways:

  • No hard drive - instead uses a solid-state drive (SSD).
  • An energy efficient, power-saver - requires as few as .65watts
  • Space-saving - thinner, lighter and shorter than the notebook
  • Optical drive-free - most net-books are not equipped withan optical drive
  • Smaller displays - from the keyboard to the monitor, thenetbook layout is absolutely compact
  • Price - Netbooks makes computing affordable and accessible for everyone (Brand new laptops start at $600 compared to the $300 of the netbook)

Available NetBook Brands: 2go PC, Intel Classmate, Eee PC
