How-to Invest in a Mushy Market

Categories: investing, soft marketinvestments, stock bond

As worries of a recession and a turbulent financial climate loom, many are hesitant to invest in the market. On Wall Street, investors are moving money to other markets. Although placing money in foreign markets may seem viable, a wealth of global uncertainties warrants risk.

How can an American consumer/investor make the most of a murky financial climate? The Consumer Journal interviewed a financial analyst. Here are three solid investment suggestions:

  • Buy high dividend yield stocks with a resilient financial track record (in example, Phillip Morris, Verizon and AT and T).

  • For the investor in quest of fixed income investments, consider US Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS)

  • A diversified commodity based fund provides a hedge against inflation while offering diversification benefits of stock and/or bond portfolios.
