Fluorescents Upstage Incandescent Lighting

Why are green advocates tossing out incandescent lighting?

Categories: > lighting, home lighting, fluorescent, light bulbs,

Thomas Edison's beaming concept, the light bulb is being shafted by an unsuspected predecessor. In Australia, Canada and California, the sale of the incandescent light bulbs is slated for banning by 2010, and 2012 respectively. Despite the light bulb's contribution to global warming, here are a few other reasons fluorescent lighting is stealing the limelight:

• Today's fluorescent lights are warmer than incandescent bulbs
• They offer a substantial cost savings
• A 22-watt fluorescent light generates the light equivalent of a 100-watt light bulb
• Fluorescent bulbs emit less carbon dioxide than incandescent lights.

For example, the fluorescent lamp (above) reduces glare and eye irritation. A natural energy saver, the modern sleek design features an adjustable lamp  and concurs with any decor. (Please click the photo for more details).
