Based on a report released by the Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, less than 1000 gas stations of 170,000 across America, sell E85.
With more than 210 fueling facilities, Minnesota scales the list for having the most ethanol stations in America.
Ethanol endures the same distillation process as moonshine (the term used for alcohol during prohibition to describe bootlegged alcohol.
The number proceeding the E represents the percent of ethanol in the fuel. For example, E85 means the fuel is comprised of 85 percent ethanol.
The first automobile produced by Henry Ford in 1896 was built to operate on pure ethanol.
In 2006, Indy racecars were fueled by E10 fuel. This year, Indy racers will use E100 to fuel their cars.
Merely, 80 percent of the ethanol made in the USA is produced in Midwestern states:
