Beans are not only known to promote a combustible gaseous element. As the ultimate red meat protein alternative, red kidneys, black beans (frijoles negros), cannelloni, pinto and butter beans can be absolutely delicious. Loaded with fiber and an abundant number of vitamins and minerals, legumes are health-wise. So, what does it take to concoct a tasty-luscious pot o'beans?
The answer is quite simple: Penzeys Spices. Now while this consumer article is not meant to advertise the spice company with the loveable brand identity, the truth must be told:
Penzey's Spices
takes simple dishes from insipid to piquant.
To prove my point, here's an easy recipe with loads of fiber and flavor:
Holly's Tex-icana Beans
1-can of Bush Light red kidney beans
1-can of Bush Cannelloni beans
1/4-teaspoon Penzey's Smoked Spanish Paprika
2-whole large black Indian cardamom pods (Penzeys Spices)
2-cloves of fresh garlic (minced)
1/4-teaspoon kosher salt
1/2-teaspoon of pepper
1/8-teaspoon of chipotle
Pinch of cinnamon
1/2 a cup of cold water
Rinse the canned beans three times before transferring to a pot. While adding the ingredients, set the stovetop on simmer. Keep stirring beans until all ingredients are liberally melded. Next, cover the beans and simmer for forty minutes. Stir, every 10-minutes. (This recipe is best when the beans have a chance to sit before being heated up).
