Hilton Seattle - Hotel Review

Hapless in Seattle
Although, I love the exquisite look of mod design, I've noticed that something happens to certain mindsets when they work in these environments. I call it an attitude that I do not care to pay for. It happens in high-end restaurants, exclusive boutiques and of course the more pretentious hotels.
It's what I experienced after an 8-hour travel day from Chicago to Seattle.
My husband had left a hotel key for me to obtain from the reservationists desk. When I checked in at the illustrious Hilton Seattle, both the reservationist and manager's mannerisms were as if I was a terrorist notifying them that I had plans to detonate the building.
They scampered behind the desk so long that I finally offered my identification. But that was not good enough. They studied my spouse's reservation to ensure that he had checked in alone -- (I am assuming). But the funny thing is that my husband had left an envelope with my name on it and how plausible is it that an irate wife would show up at a hotel to catch her husband in an illicit act, toting mega-luggage?
While I do not care to berate any kind of business, the invective demeanor coupled with inept customer service was unfortunately not the last non-taste worthy encounter I had with the staff at the Hilton Seattle. The next day when, I stepped off the wrong floor, in search of the fitness room, another somber staff member was abhorrently rude. Instead of offering information about the fitness room, he contended that I was on the "wrong floor.”
And then, there was the memorable experience of checking out of the Hilton Seattle. Since, the valet seemed busy with other customers, I took it upon myself to get into my rented vehicle without checking in with the valet. Instead of politely saying "let me check your ticket so we can avoid any mistakes," the valet all but accused me of trying to abscond the SUV.
Although, the valet person explained (later) that the hotel was experiencing a rash of crimes, it seems like the hotel staff needs to learn how to be security conscious without alienating their patrons with such brutish behavior. Finally, there's a distinct difference between being professional and showing a little warmth. It's probably why The Four Season's Hotel will always outperform other hotels in the realm of balancing a luxe atmosphere with professional hospitality. But then again, the Radisson it not trying to be ostentatious and still manages to balance gracious service with friendly accommodations.
