Holiday Information: Thanksgiving Consumer Facts

Categories: Holiday gift ideas, for him, gift idea for men, Christmas gift idea

Thanksgiving remains the single holiday when grateful yet gluttonous behavior is in order. Every year, turkey farms across America mate, prepare and wait in anticipation of the one day a year to reap the rewards of their hard labor. The day represents an opportunity to idly congregate with cherished family members, watch football and to fret over what to buy loved ones for the next major holiday.

Just as planned by our late President Roosevelt, Thanksgiving Day kicks off the hectic holiday season (Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's Day), stimulates the economy and inspires the millions to take advantage of all the Black Friday sales.

But here are more fascinating facts about Thanksgiving:

● The USDA estimates that more than 265 million turkeys are raised each year. (That's worth over three billion dollars).

● According to the 'triple A' (AAA), between Wednesday and Sunday, approximately 4.8 million passengers are expected to fly over the Thanksgiving holiday.

● From 14 to 18 weeks, turkeys are prime for slaughter.

● Roughly 31.7 million individuals in the United States are forecasted to converge upon the highways.
