Segway Software Recall
Categories: Segway, Personal transporter, product recall
Segways or personal transporters can go a bit haywire and are being recalled. Civilians, policemen and other Segway Personal Transporter (PT) consumers should use another mode of transportation if they have a Segway from 2002 to present date. The voluntary product recall was announced as a result of a software glitch in Segway PTs. Recalled models include any Segway from the i Series, e Series, p Series, and XT, GT and i2 models.
Without any warning the Segway PT's wheels may revert the direction causing the PT driver to fall and have an accident. In the interim, personal transporter (PT) owners may contact the Bedford, N.H., based company, Segway Inc., Monday through Friday, at 800-750-6557 from 8 AM until 8 PM (ET), or simply visit www.segway.com to obtain the free software upgrade. Hardware changes are unnecessary. This month, the impending release of the Segway x2 is not affected by the software recall.
