Amid the high rate of identity theft and other online fraud, Webroot Software has released the following findings:

• Eighty-nine percent of the consumer PCs were found to have spyware

• Of the websites evaluated by Webroot, over 500,000 websites contain potential threats: adware, spyware, malware and other system monitoring


• During the second quarter of 2006, more than 40 firms have had a security breach

• System monitor penetration (in example, keystroke loggers) accounted for 6 percent of online breaches during the second quarter
