Dell makes technological history. A recent rash of exploding laptops has sparked the recent recall of 4.1 million batteries across the world. Dating back to 2003, a culmination of 176 complaints have been reported to The Consumer Product Safety Commission on the explosive tendencies of Dell notebooks. The hazard is triggered by the lithium-ion batteries that have the ability to overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Product Recall Details If you own any of the following Dell notebook models, the recalled batteries were sold either separately or with the following computers:

Inspiron™ 6000, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 500m, 510m, 600m, 6400, E1505, 700m, 710m, 9400, E1705
Latitude™ D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800, D810
XPS,™ XPS Gen2, XPS M170 and XPS M1710


Consumer Safety Recall Recommendation
Before consumers toss these laptops, there is an easy solution to prevent an unexpected explosion or fire. 1) Power down your notebook. 2) Eject the battery. 3) Use he AC adapter and power cord to run your system. 4) Contact Dell to coordinate the details of receiving a replacement battery.
