Here's what the AT and T had to say on their behalf:

Dear Sir/Madam:
AT&T cares about and vigorously protects our customers' privacy. We do not sell or otherwise provide personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
To opt out of ATT's permission email marketing campaigns, please visit www.att.com/remove. Upon following through the opt out process, you should NOT receive future SBC email marketing messages. If you wish to opt back in you can do so by visiting the following url (www.att.com/email) and check marking the services you would like to receive upon entering your email address.
To be removed from future mailings from ATT, please contact your local ATT representative and ask to be placed on 'DO NOT MAIL' and 'DO NOT CALL' list. The service request should take a couple of weeks to fulfill. Your local regional phone number can be found at:
http://att.sbc.com/gen/contact-us?pid=8
We are also working on an att.com domain cookie that will allow you to browse our pages anonymously without have any personally identifiable information associated with any of your account or cookie information
on our site. We will send you the opt out url for this functionality as soon as we launch the capability. This is to be expected to be delivered
by end of this coming week.
Thank you for contacting us.
Stay tuned, as AlertsforConsumers continues tracking AT & T's new privacy enhancements.
