Cheap Gas Alternative, E85 Could Fuel Memorial Day Travel and Sales

Not all consumers are required to pay the high price of fuel for travel this memorial holiday season. Then again, there maybe hope for consumers worried about scaling down from an oversized GM sports utility vehicle (SUVs) to save on the growing cost of fuel. Since the rapidly rising cost of gas could potentially crumble General Motors’ sales, the auto manufacturing giant is raising consumer awareness about the benefits of E85 ethanol as well as other alternative fuels.

While high fuel prices are discouraging consumers from investing in the mega truck, General Motors will be the loser if high fuel prices continue to skyrocket. Project initiatives are underway in California, Chicago and Minnesota. But on the contrary, E85 is available at only 600 filling stations across the nation.

In California, GM, Pacific Ethanol and Chevron Technologies are working in confluence to develop the infrastructure for more fuel alternatives such as: E85, bio-diesel and hydrogen stations. For instance, the state has invested in flex-fuel vehicles for fleet sales. In the interim, GM owners who plan to drive this Memorial Day holiday can visit OnStar to search for cheap gas alternatives or E85 stations across the nation.
