Yahoo instant message users beware. Face Time Security Labs reports that a new self-propagating worm lurks in cyber-land. The intrusive parasite-like agent called, yhoo.32.explr, imposes several malware infestations:

1. First it configures a web browser referred to as a "Safety Browser.” The browser imposter confuses, deceives and misleads many end users because it is camouflaged by an Internet Explorer icon.

2. Then it hijacks the end-user’s system by commandeering the browser to a site that configures spyware on the computer.

3. Next the invasive application attacks the end user’s Yahoo Instant Messager contacts.

For end-users affected with the virus, all your professional and personal online associates are at risk because the self-propagating worm spreads the virus to each of your contacts of your Yahoo! Messenger. It sends a website link, loads a command file onto the user's computer, and then spreads the worm.

4. As if the self-propagating worm is not obnoxious or invasive enough, it blares loud raucous guitar and bass music in a relentless loop.

Online consumer safety tip: Instant messaging applications are a growing means of malicious file distribution. To avoid contracting an online Trojan, virus, worm and other risks, do not use online instant messaging programs. Regardless of how tempting the subject of any email, do not open digital message from unknown contacts.
